When you wake up in the morning, collect all your saliva in your mouth and spit into a glass of water. Do this immediate when you get up, before your drink or eat anything. Let your glass sit for 15 minutes, then analyze it. If your salvia sits on top of the water then this is a good thing; it means there is no sign of yeast. If, however, your saliva drops and you see sediment on the bottom of your glass or you have feathers or strings of salvia reaching down from the top of the water toward the bottom, then this is a sign that there is excess mucus in your mouth and may be a sign of yeast overgrowth.
